Organize your mind – FreeMind

March 10, 2006

Open-source counterpart of MindManager used to organize all your ideas/task/etc (your mind!). I saw some of my collegues using MindManager (the one from Mindset) and though it could be great to organize all my personal tasks, ideas in one place. I then found FreeMind on sourceforge. I don’t know about all the feature of the retail version of MindManager, but FreeMind has everything I need.

I don’t like the fact that it requires the JRE to run it (and I had some problems with it – see below), but otherwise the basic functionalities work pretty well. I seem to have problems using the shortcuts and some other commands, but I guess it’s because of the fact that it runs on Java and is not a native windows application. Anyhow, give it a try, it’s free!

I had some problems launching the .exe because it uses the Java Runtime Environment, but instead, launching the .bat located in the same folder of the .exe works fine.
